Deception and TRUTH.
What comes to mind for you when you think of the word “deception?” This locution might persuade your thoughts toward a magician or an illusionist who plays out his art with crafty tricks. If you move outside of the playful use, our minds might conjure up the sad and hurtful guile of an internet scam artist. But how many of you thought about Satan?
Satan is a master, in fact, The master of deception. And this is not for good entertainment but for hurting, destroying and stealing the good life that God designed for his highest creation: mankind. Satan uses deception in many ways but one of his most clever bits of cunning comes when he deceives people into thinking that he doesn’t exist.
I recall an interview with a satanist who did not believe that Satan was real, but simply found the idea of embodied evil as a fascinating thing. This pleases Satan. For in that deception he has freedom to roam and kill and pull down countless humans into his dark and sinister realm.
In Sunday’s message we are going to address the problems of Satan (deception is just one of many) and then we will seek the solution to this malady: Jesus the Word of God, the Eternal truth that erases deception.
In John 17:17, Jesus prays to the Father to endorse His presence and power: “Sanctify them by the truth, Your Word is truth.” Jesus is the Word of God and the incarnate form of God. Jesus perfectly portrays the presence of God’s eternal truth. Satan cannot stand under that emblazoned power. Satan’s kingdom crumbles when Jesus strolls to the front of humanity.
May God bless your week as you consider all the Words of truth that are placed in the full content of Holy Scriptures so that you can prevent yourself and your loved ones from being deceived. Jesus will bless you in this endeavor.
