About Worship

We strive to make worship meaningful for all who come - no matter where they are on their faith journey - by being orderly, relevant, understandable, engaging, and participatory. (1 Corinthians 9:22, 10:24, 10:33, 14:15-17, 24-25)

Worshipping and praising our God is more than just sitting in church, singing some songs, or listening to a sermon. It is made of many things. A few of them to consider:

GLORIFICATION: Everything we do, first and foremost, is for the glorification of God. He is the why, the what, and the how. (1 Chronicles 16:23-31, Psalm 99:5, Hebrews 12:28)

REVERENCE: We worship the God of the Universe in humbling awe and reverence (Psalm 5:7, Colossians 3:22, Hebrews 12:28)

EMPOWERMENT: We want people to come to worship for, and leave with, encouragement, comfort, and confidence in the message of grace, tapping into all aspects of faith: knowledge (1 Peter 1:13), will (James 2:26), and emotion (Psalm 5:11), and empowering them in their faith journey. (1 Corinthians 14:26 & 31, Romans 12:2)

About Discipleship

Discipleship is a major focus here at Mount Olive. Why? We want to know and become more like Jesus every day. This creates change in our lives. Daily discipleship transforms us from being stationary, self-centered people into renewed brothers and sisters in faith, ready to fully love those around us and be of service to them.

At Mount Olive, we use the W.O.N.D.E.R. toolbox to help us do this.

  • W = Word of God - Daily reading His word.

  • O = Osmosis -The Word of God should surround us and be absorbed by us.

  • N = Need to love and be loved - seek mutual Christian bonds with other Christians.

  • D = Discuss - Constant discussion, Deut. 6:4-9

  • E = Experience - Do, look, feel, try it, measure, weigh, ask, compare.

  • R = Relay - Pass to someone else, look at yourself as the crucial link to the next person.
