Real Fear, Real Worship.

Did you know that fear can lower your intelligence? It’s also been studied that fear can lower your immunity. Fear is not a good thing when it is prolonged, when it is NOT dealt with!

In our upcoming study from 2 Chronicles 20, fear and worship are the two themes at play against each other. Typically when fear rises, we have flight, fight or freeze. Flight: we run from that thing that causes fear. Fight: we rage and struggle and oppose the villain or the culprit. Freeze: this is probably one of the worst reactions (depending); we just become numb and immobile, unable to flee or unable to fight.

God offers another alternative which will help us align to whichever reaction is best (flight, fight or freeze). His antidote for fear is worship. Worship the God who loves us so much that He willingly sacrificed His beloved Son (John 3:16). Worship the God of immense power and irresistible strength. Worship the God who sees all events with complete understanding of agendas and attitudes. We take pleasure in worship when these things and more come to be REAL for us. I write that because we let other issues, complications, enemies, etc. take the pre-eminent place in our thinking. THat creates fear. Worship puts God back at the center of our existence, the center of our thinking. Then fear has to take a back seat.

Isaiah 41:10 calls us to a place of “no fear.” 2 Chronicles 20:17 shares God’s battle plan for “no fear”: trust the LORD God to fight for you. “You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the LORD on your behalf” (2 Chronicles 20:17). This is true when it comes to freeing us from our sins; this is true when it comes to opening the gates of heaven to those who believe. This is true when fears of various kinds form a tight grip around our hearts. Real fear is chased away when we see and experience Real worship of our Savior.

Let us Worship Him!
